City and state politicians play important roles in creating or hindering the deleterious effects of gentrification. Activism and voter pressure has forced or inspired many local officials to produce politically driven ordinances and regulations that address the many facets of gentrification. This section includes example legislation and policies that facilitate affordable housing, community return, tenant protections, and other solutions to displacement. These samples outline specific methods and/or wording which might help other parties interested in keeping people in their homes.
